I have been exhibiting my photographs nationally for twenty years and have taught photography at the college level for almost as long. I become interested in making books about seven years ago, and exhibited my first hand bound book at the Center for Book & Paper Arts at Columbia College, Chicago in 2003. Bookmaking allows me to make three-dimensional objects and provides a narrative context for my photographs.

In my most recent work, Still/Moving, I have come full circle. In 2007, I returned to the street, where I began photographing in the mid-eighties as a photography student. But now using a digital camera instead of film, I photographed everything that caught my eye, just as I had done when I was new to the medium. Eventually, a theme emerged from my experiences of taking public transportation when moving about the city.

I received a BA from Michigan State University and an MFA from Northern Illinois University. I taught photography at Northern from 1990-2008 and also taught at other colleges including Kishwuakee College in Malta, IL. While at Kishwaukee, I also held the position of Art Gallery Director.
